Double Hung

Double Hung windows are the most common window used as replacements. The system consists of two sashes which move vertically, by-passing each other in a single frame. The two moving sashes (top and bottom), open to allow hot air to exit out the top of the window as cooler air enters through the bottom.

They’re a great choice if you want to maximize the amount of wood on the interior of a home.

2-Lite Sliders

Unlike the Double Hung Windows, these have 2 moveable sashes that "slide" horizontally on rollers to open rather than vertically.

Slider windows are popular in rectangular openings where the width is greater than the height. Each panel can open for cross-ventilation.
